Bookmark Bliss: The Massive List of Web Design Resources

I’ll be the first to admit that when it comes to web design, I can use all the help I can get. In some aspects I’m very confident in my abilities, such as programming features in PHP, working with databases, or implementing layouts in CSS. In other aspects, I definitely need a helping hand such as logo design, graphics, and color coordination.
Unfortunately, not all of us have the luxury of a designer so we simply make the most of what we have at our disposal on any given project. Most of the time, that means it’s just one on one with Google.
As a result, I’ve put together a massive list list of tools I’ve bookmarked that help me with my webdesign and I hope they’ll do the same for you…

I particularly appreciate the stock photo links. I’d break up that list by free unrestricted, free non-commercial and for fee. I’ll probably do that when I get around to it… I’ll shoot you an email when I do.

u wont see a single digg.. digg numbers are “0″ but when u open the same URL withoult focussion on to comment removing #comment-1981 i.e.
without comment
diggs numbers are shown…
Nope, I didn’t submit this article to Digg, but it got buried before it even came close to the front page. Seems like people are burying articles at an insane rate these days.
For example, I read a great article today on choosing the best workspace and how to make the most of limited space to improve productivity.
It got buried at Digg as well. It’s really obvious that most of the time people don’t even bother reading before they bury…

If only there was a way to become unburied!
Here is a question for my digg plugin, if an article gets buried, do you think I should just hide the button regardless of how many digg’s it obtained? There really is no reason to keep it other then as a sort of symbol that your article did well…
What do you guys think? I am inclined to just hide the digg button for any article that doesn’t reach the front page within the 24 hour limit, unless it is really close…

I was ok with zero diggs, but the reason I was is because my own research found that people are much more likely to digg your article when they visit the article itself, then they are to do it from the Digg website. So at the time, my only choices were show it all the time, or manually set it for posts…
Now, you can have a lot more freedom. I am trying to figure out the best system to use that makes the site look decent and also encourages diggs for the longest period of time.
I’m just messing around with it right now, but as soon as I have say a beta version working, I’ll post it here for everyone who wants to to try out. Maybe in the next week or so, I just gotta find a few hours to finish it up…

Amazing, I won’t sleep tonight (it’s 00:56 am in my part of the world). One question, though: how about GIMP and the likes of it? Some people cannot afford Photoshop, you know
Haha, that is a good point. I used to use the gimp religiously before I got into Photoshop for exactly that reason. It was free, and it was pre-installed in all my linux setups.
I’ll see if I can find some good tutorials and sites, and do a follow up sometime in the future!
