Site Stats - March 2007

April 2, 2007 | Comments (4) | Filed under: General

From here on out, at the end of every month, I’ll be posting access statistics on Bookmark Bliss. I started this blog as a way to help you improve your business, and my hope is that by detailing what we’ve done, and where we are headed each month, you’ll be able to follow along with our successes and mistakes and learn from them just as we are. Here are the statistics on Bookmark Bliss for the month of March 2007:

Posting/Comment Statistics

In the month of March, we posted 39 posts (roughly one a day with a few extras) and we have had exactly 196 comments posted in response. In case you’re sick like me and like to know how many spammers get blocked, we’ve also stopped 937 spam posts.

Website Access Statistics

According to Google Analytics, for the entire month of March we received 64,029 unique visitors and more than 132,892 Pageviews. This is an average of 2,033 visitors per day and 4,286 Pageviews per day. On average, a single visitor viewed about 2 pages each. I would say the main reason this is as low as it is is because we publish full articles on the main page of our site and a user doesn’t have to click on anything to get plenty of content. One of our goals for the month of April is to improve this number by making our articles easier to find and read.

Expense Statistics

Our current expenses include our hosting package with Site5 (which sets me back about $100 per year, or roughly $8.00 per month) and the cost of the domain name registration which we can say is about $1.00 per month. Overall, our expenses were roughly $9.00 for the month of March. We have yet to get into any paid promotion of our site, but hopefully we can branch into this a bit more in the future.

Income Statistics

For our first month, we generated the following income all in USD. Google adsense: $87.15, Affiliate sales: $45.00, Direct advertising: $90. So, our March total comes in at: $222.15. I think that is not too bad for a first month in business, but I don’t really have any measure to compare against.

Subscriber Statistics

For the majority of the month, our Feedburner feed subscribers hovered around the 100 mark. On March 31st, our Feedburner subscribers stand at 339. While I know we picked up a few new readers in the last few weeks, I think this number is mostly inflated from our article that reached Digg’s main page Saturday. I’m hoping when it settles it is still at least in the 150 range or so. One of our goals for April is to substantially increase our subscribers.

Technorati Statistics

According to Technorati, our ranking is currently 31, 641. I personally think they are lowballing us due to their mix ups last week, but even still 31K is not too bad for a fresh blog.

Overall, I think we’ve done fairly well in terms of reach and statistics. My two biggest goals for March is to increase our subscriber numbers and also improve the number of page views each reader sticks around for on the site. Here’s hoping to a good April, and thanks to everyone who welcomed us in our first month. We really appreciate your support.

Great idea. I’m always interested in learning about the traffic and income details of other blogs. Stating that you also plan to publish this information monthly is a sure fire why to get return visitors.
