Our Readers Have Spoken…

A few days ago, I made a post entitled, Our First Month - A Look Back, where I sort of ranted about where our site is headed. I also asked our community to send in some suggestions or criticisms of the site, and the response was really great. So, over the the next few weeks, I will attempt to implement as many of the suggestions I have actually liked, as well as see what I can do about the criticisms that were voiced.
First step, ADVERTISING:
The first suggestions/criticism I had in this regard was that the site just had too many ads. I’ve gone ahead already and removed two ad blocks (Top Links and Sponsored Links), and I think it looks a lot better already. I’m going to be doing some tracking on our adsense ads to see which ones are performing the best and possibly shrink the number of these down by one or two.
The second suggestion, with regards to advertising, was to remove the huge ReviewMe ad and also get rid of the ugly links at the top of the black sidebar. I have gone ahead and removed the ReviewMe ad entirely from the main site, and put it exclusively in our Advertise with Us page. I’ve replaced the links at the top of the sidebar with a single 125×125 ad (currently showing Text-Link-Ads) that I think is much more pleasing to look at.
While this is only one area of the site I plan to revamp, I think it was the one most in need of some changes. As a result of the shuffling we’ve done, I’ve also updated the Advertise with Us page to reflect the most recent ad placement guidelines.
I’ll keep you up to date with other changes to our site and as always, if you have any suggestions or criticisms, we’d love to hear about them. You can leave a comment at the bottom of this post or simply shoot us an email via our contact page.
Thanks to everyone who sent us suggestions!
