Fuzzy site cleanup on aisle 4

It turns out the cause of our recent bit of site slowness was due to the Digg button I had showing up with every post. It’s sort of a pain that Digg offers so many interesting tools, but they can’t come up with a better way of checking to see if you have digg posts other than making a remote javascript call every single time. On top of that, their script doesn’t even allow you to disable the button in the event your post has no Diggs.
Anyway, I’ve removed the Digg button from the posts on the main page, and I’ve moved them exclusively into the single page individual posts. You can seem them by clicking on the title of any of the posts on the main page. I figure that will give people coming in from Digg or other sites a chance to Digg us, while not slowing down the site or forcing it down the throat of my regular readers who simply read the posts on the main page. My goal is to figure out how to show the button only when a post has been digg’d, but for now I think its better to be in then non-existent.
Also, I’ve decided to add the WP-Cache 2.0 plugin to our original list of 15 Wordpress Plugins to improve page load times especially during peak hours. It seems to be working amazingly well, but if you guys start noticing any problems with posts, please let me know.
Now if only the MyBlogLog widget wouldn’t lag so badly, then we’d be in business…

Nice work. Anything that seriously hinders loading time would be taken first consideration on the strike off list.
WP Cache is truely a neat Plugin and very useful.
